Belgarum working hard for Charity of the Year Trinity Winchester

Trinity Winchester, the local homelessness charity, was nominated to be charity of the year by estate agents Belgarum in January 2015. In just four months, the Belgarum staff team have got involved in every aspect of the charity, and have become a main sponsor of Trinity’s upcoming major fundraiser event, The Big Sleep Out.IMG_2584

Alex and Becky have been collecting the food donated from Sainsbury’s Badger Farm and Greggs the baker a couple of times a month, meaning Trinity do not have to spend any money on fresh fruit, vegetables or desserts. At the end of March, Becky and Paul took over the kitchen for a day, creating a delicious spaghetti Bolognese for 50 clients.

Most recently, Belgarum have very generously sponsored Trinity’s largest fundraising event, the Big Sleep Out, as well as submitting a team to sleep out on the night.

Michelle Gardner, Director of Strategy and Fundraising for Trinity, said: “After all that Belgarum have done for Trinity through volunteering at the drop in centre, we are really excited that the team are also getting involved in the Big Sleep Out in two weeks time. We’d like to express our thanks to John Leeson and his team for all their hard work and fundraising for us, as well as donating money to sponsor the event.”

John Leeson of Belgarum said: “Trinity does such important work with homeless people, that we were only too pleased to support them throughout the year, with money and by donating our time too. We hope many other local people and businesses will join us in taking part in the Big Sleep Out to help tackle homelessness in our local community.”

The Big Sleep Out is taking place on 8th May in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral, and is raising money for Trinity Winchester, with 10% given to Winchester Churches Nightshelter. Event organiser Jacqui Squire added: “We still need lots more teams to sign up, so if you think you could spend a night on the grass with just a cardboard box to protect you, please visit www.sleepoutwinchester.co.uk.” For more information, contact the Big Sleep Out Team on 01962 842827.
