Trinity Winchester’s Eating Disorder group will be welcoming two speakers to their meeting on 19th July to share their stories of recovery. Trinity runs two monthly groups, one for those struggling with an eating disorder, and a support group for friends and family. This event will see the two groups come together to hear how other people have overcome their eating disorders, and how to prevent and cope with relapse.

It is hoped that this event will raise awareness of this mental illness, and encourage new people to engage with support available locally. No referral is necessary to attend Trinity’s eating disorder groups.

One member of the Friends and Family support group said, “It was by accident that we found out about this group, but I’m so glad that we did. Our daughter had been struggling for some time and we just happened to see a leaflet in a doctor’s surgery. Hearing other people’s experiences, knowing we were not alone, and finding out new ways to manage was invaluable to us as a family. Thankfully my daughter is recovering now, and we are looking at a far more positive future. I wanted to thank the group for all their help, so put on a fundraising golf day at Moors Valley Golf Club which raised nearly £900. Hopefully this will help them to reach more families like ours who need support.”

The joint meeting on Wednesday 19th July will take place at Bradbury House, Durngate, from 19:30. For more information, please contact ed@trinitywinchester.org.uk.
