Trinity Winchester marked World Homeless Day with two spectacular events that raised over £24,000 to help homeless and vulnerable people in Winchester.
On Thursday 10 October, the Dolly Mixtures Fashion show strutted its stuff at Eastleigh Football Club with the aim of raising funds for Trinity’s new accommodation project “UnderOneRoof@trinity”. The event was initiated by Durley entrepreneur Brenda Forbes – “A fun evening was had by all who came to watch and support our sell out Fashion show and we are so happy to be able to contribute to this vital accommodation project”.
This year’s annual Black-Tie Dinner, on Friday 11th October was, as usual, generously hosted by the Holiday Inn, Winchester. Sold out weeks in advance, the 160 guests including our Patron Lord-Lieutenant Nigel Atkinson and local businesses from Paris Smith to Trinity Rose were amazed by the close-up magic of Colin Phillips, before Abba’s Angels brought everyone onto the dance floor with their spirited performances of many of Abba’s greatest hits.
The main event of the evening was the live auction with prizes ranging from tickets to The British Open Golf at Royal St George’s, fly fishing on the Newton Stacey Estate and a spectacular holiday villa in Majorca. The raffle and silent wine auction included a range of fabulous prizes and fine wines. Trinity thanks all the supporters and local business who donated to the auction and raffle.
Sue McKenna, Chief Executive at Trinity, said: “We are really delighted with the amount raised for Trinity from both events. We were overwhelmed by the sheer generosity from both supporters and sponsors, they have made a huge difference to support our vital work.’’
