Trinity Winchester, the charity which provides practical support for homeless and other vulnerable people in the city, has launched its 2015 sponsored Big Sleep Out which takes place in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral on Friday 8th May. It is hoped that hundreds of local people will take on the challenge of sleeping outside, with just a sleeping bag and cardboard, to raise money for people in Winchester who are homeless.
One team committed to the cause is local estate agents, Goadsby. A team from the office took part in the event in 2013, and have signed up once again. Pictured is Branch Manager Chris Pickard, showing his support for the Big Sleep Out. “Last time, we raised a phenomenal £1200, and we’re hoping to do even better this year. It’s such an important cause.”
Michelle Gardner, Director of Strategy and Fundraising at Trinity Winchester said: “We’d like to thank the Dean and Chapter for once again allowing us to host this incredible event in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral. This is our biggest, highest profile fundraising event, and our target is to raise more than the incredible £25,000 raised at 2013’s event. Large events like these are vital in allowing us to raise money for our work supporting homeless and vulnerable people to change their current situation. Most of us cannot begin to imagine what it is like to be homeless, and this event does not attempt to try, but will raise awareness that there is a homelessness problem in Winchester.”
Winchester Churches Night Shelter will also receive 10% of the profits from the event.
