Geoff’s Story

Shortly after the coronavirus lockdown began, Geoff lost his job and then his flat.  He has been rough sleeping for several weeks, having to adapt and shelter himself in the demanding and risky world as it currently is. To support him through this time, Geoff has been coming into Trinity every day for food, washing, and personal development. It has been incredible to see Geoff remain so positive and resilient during what would be a life changing and demoralising time for so many others. There have been times when Geoff has clearly been stressed and tested, but he has kept his composure, showing true strength in the face of adversity.

As a result of his efforts, and with the support of Trinity staff and Winchester City Council, Geoff has successfully accepted a flat in Weeke, Winchester, which he will move into in July.  We will now work with him to help maintain his tenancy.

The With One Voice Choir for White Ribbon Day

Each year Trinity Winchester in partnership with Winchester City Council and many other local agencies take to the streets of Winchester to promote White Ribbon Day, on the 26th November we will be in the High Street asking people to pledge to end violence against women.

Trinity in partnership with The University of Winchester has formed a choir called “The With One Voice Choir” has written a song “The Journey” that speaks of the survival of domestic abuse as well as advocating for those women still suffering the effects of violence.

They will be performing the song on the day and with many thanks to The University of Winchester we have also recorded the song, please listen, come along on the day to show your support and consider taking a stand to end violence against women.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service Winners

QAVS_logo_MBE_Strap

Trinity Winchester has been awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

This award was created by The Queen in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of the Queen’s coronation, recognising excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community. It is the MBE for volunteer groups.

The work your group does for the community was very much admired by the independent Assessment Committee, chaired by Sir Martyn Lewis CBE and I am delighted to inform you that your group has been selected as a recipient for The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) 2018.

The award of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2018 represents a tremendous achievement for your organisation. We hope that everyone involved, and particularly your volunteers, feel immensely proud of the recognition that this Award represents.

We are extremely proud to receive this award in recognition of the positive work our volunteers accomplish everyday. Trinity’s work could not continue without the support of over 70 volunteers who support the drop in centre, women’s service, fundraising and admin, plus all of our trustees and advocates.

Thank you all for your support.
